Yen Bai saw 44 cooperatives and 287 cooperative groups registering for establishment within the first six months of 2022, pushing the province’s total to 610.

YBO - In 2021, Yen Bai province ranked 40 of the 63 provinces and cities in the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) rankings. It fell seven places compared to the 2020 list and was among the localities with medium governance capacity.

YBO - Implementing the “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) programme, Yen Bai city now has 10 products certified as meeting the OCOP standards. Of these, one has been certified as a four-star product and the rest rated three stars.

YBO - Yen Bai province continued to enjoy a bumper Spring rice crop with production of nearly 5.6 tonnes per hectare and a rise of 128.46 tonnes in total output compared to the same crop last year, according to the provincial Department of Agricultural and Rural Development.

YBO - To date, 4,347.9 hectares of forests in Yen Bai province have been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and got the international sustainable forest management certificate in accordance with the Vietnam Forest Certification Scheme and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (VFCS/PEFC). Meanwhile, 6,757.8 hectares are waiting to get the FSC certificate.

YBO - Yen Bai province sets a target of growing about 80,000 hectares of cinnamon by 2025, of which around 35,000 hectares are concentrated cultivation and 2,000 hectares follow VietGAP, GlobalGAP and organic standards.

YBO - The business associations of Yen Bai city and Yen Binh district recently made their first public appearance, with the participation of 86 enterprises and cooperatives.

YBO - Dong Cuong commune in Van Yen district has established 10 self-management groups for environmental protection with 292 members, while 1,883 of the 2,003 households in the commune, or 94 percent, collect and treat waste under regulations and 1,009, or 50.4 percent, classify domestic waste at the source.

YBO - Along with measures in “closing the forest”, the Yen Bai provincial government has assigned the key task of forest protection to local people through a policy of paying them to provide forest protection services.

YBO - As of March 31, all the 66 transformer stations of the Yen Bai Power Company had their repair and upgrade completed, and been put into use to serve residents and businesses in the province.
