
To drive long-term growth, the northern province of Yen Bai is promoting a more favourable business environment under a call for investment incentivized by a new land fund.

YBO - As of March 15, Yen Bai province had attracted 585 projects, including 35 foreign-invested ones with a total registered capital of over 86.9 trillion VND (3.78 billion USD) and 465.7 million USD. Of the total, there were 48 projects in the fields of agriculture, forestry and fishery; 431 in industry and construction; and 106 others in trade, tourism, services and other economic sectors.

YBO - Yen Bai is currently home to three industrial parks, covering total area of 627.89 hectares. They are the 400-ha southern industrial park, the 108-ha Minh Quan Industrial Park and the 120-ha Au Lau Industrial Park.

YBO - Yen Bai has built several value chains for its major products, which have helped create concentrated production areas, reduce the situation of oversupply of products and raise incomes for local residents.

YBO - In 2019, Tran Yen became the first district of Yen Bai and the north-western region to be honoured with the new-style rural area title. Local authorities ever since have worked to meet advanced criteria and turn the district into an exemplary new-style rural area.

YBO - This year, Van Yen district will work to develop eight new products under the “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) programme. They consist of Na Hau sturgeon, “ca gai leo” (Solanum procumbens Lour) glue, Phuong Nhung cinnamon tea, Van Yen citronella and lime essential oil, Duong Canh orange, Nong Van Quynh homestay (Phong Du Thuong commune), Chau Que Thuong rice cake, and Minh Khai community-based eco-tourism site (Quang Minh commune).

YBO - Located in the Northwest of Vietnam, the national scenic site of Thac Ba lake is one of the three largest artificial lakes in Vietnam formed during the construction of Thac Ba Hydropower Plant. It runs through the territory of Yen Binh and Luc Yen districts, covering nearly 20,000 hectares of water surface and housing more than 1,300 large and small green islands and a system of caves deep in the heart of its limestone mountains.
YBO - The Noi Bai – Lao Cai Expressway, put into operation in 2014, has opened up various opportunities for the socio-economic development in Yen Bai. Since then, a number of key transport projects have been underway, promoting regional and inter-regional connection with the expressway.

YBO - The provincial People’s Committee started construction of a 44-km road connecting National Road 32 and the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway in a ceremony held in Gia Hoi commune, Van Chan district on January 9.

YBO - In Che Cu Nha commune of Mu Cang Chai district, the People's Committee of Yen Bai province has recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for a road connecting Muong La (Son La), Than Uyen and Tan Uyen (Lai Chau), Mu Cang Chai, Van Chan, and Van Yen (Yen Bai) with the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway.

YBO - The People's Committee of Yen Bai province on December 22 started construction on Gioi Phien bridge in Yen Bai city. This is the 8th bridge across the Red River in the province and the 5th bridge to be built in Yen Bai city.

YBO - Yen Bai province’s project to grow mulberry and raise silkworms in the 2019 - 2025 period had contributed to the formation of concentrated mulberry growing areas with a total area of 1,198 hectares by the end of 2020.

YBO - According to the provincial competitiveness index (PCI) report 2020 released by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Yen Bai was ranked 33 out of 63 localities nationwide and belonged to the group with medium governance quality. From 2015 to 2020, the province leaped 18 positions in the PCI rankings from the 51st position in 2015.
