Residents in Van Chan district donated land to build over 100km of roads in 2023, of which over 96 km were asphalted. To date, all inter-commune roads and over 84% of inter-village roads have been paved.

YBO - This year, Yen Bai province aims to have six additional communes recognised as new-style rural areas, nine advanced new-style rural communes and four model new-style rural areas. The locality is also striving to turn Yen Binh into a new-style rural district.

By applying technology, the branch of the Netma joint Stock Company in Vinh Kien commune of Yen Binh district, Yen Bai province, has completely mastered how to turn by-products generated during wood processing into bio pellets – a source of clean fuel for civil and industrial use as well as export.

YBO - A mountainous locality with many difficulties, Yen Bai has defined investment attraction as a key solution to boost the local socio-economic development.

YBO - In 2022, Yen Bai province lured 24 investment projects in the fields of industry, trade and services with total capital of over 3.4 trillion VND (144.25 million USD).

YBO - Tran Yen district has recorded highest forest coverage percentage in Yen Bai, at over 70%, thanks to the locality’s efforts in increasing the forest area and quality and enhancing the forestry value chain, thus turning forestry into its spearhead economic sector.

YBO - The implementation of the OCOP (One Commune-One Product) movement has motivated the growth of cooperatives in Yen Bai. The integration of OCOP support into cooperative development has helped form cooperatives suitable to the reality of particular localities.

YBO - The Department of Planning and Investment of Yen Bai province has just opened dossier registration for the implementation of Thinh Hung 1 and Thinh Hung 2 New Urban Area and Ecological Urban Area Projects totaling 2.6 trillion VND (104.77 million USD).

YBO - Yen Bai is one of the 21 provinces benefiting from the results-based scaling up rural sanitation and water supply programme, funded with the World Bank loan and implemented from 2016 to 2022.

YBO - In addition to Thac Ba hydropower plant with an installed capacity of 120MW, Yen Bai province has issued 49 investment certificates and survey agreements for 15 hydropower projects.

YBO - In 2021 and the first six months of 2022, Yen Bai started construction of many major transport projects.

As of July 20, 2022, total newly registered and adjusted capital together with capital contributions and share purchases by foreign investors surpassed 15.54 billion USD in the first seven months of this year, equivalent to 92.93 percent of the same period last year.

YBO - Yen Bai province currently has 12 urban areas, including one tier-3, one tier-4 and 10 tier-5 cities. To date, the locality’s urbanisation rate has reached 20.19%.

Preliminary statistics show that Tran Yen district of Yen Bai province is currently home to about 80 - 100ha of “khoi nhung” (Ardisia silvestris Pitard), whose leaves generate about 20 billion VND (over 854,900 USD) in sales revenue for the district each year, making this medicinal herb a “green gold mine” in local forests.

Work started on June 23 morning on a road section connecting Yen Bai’s Nghia Lo district with Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway. This is the first bidding package of the linking road to be implemented.

To drive long-term growth, the northern province of Yen Bai is promoting a more favourable business environment under a call for investment incentivized by a new land fund.

YBO - As of March 15, Yen Bai province had attracted 585 projects, including 35 foreign-invested ones with a total registered capital of over 86.9 trillion VND (3.78 billion USD) and 465.7 million USD. Of the total, there were 48 projects in the fields of agriculture, forestry and fishery; 431 in industry and construction; and 106 others in trade, tourism, services and other economic sectors.

YBO - Yen Bai is currently home to three industrial parks, covering total area of 627.89 hectares. They are the 400-ha southern industrial park, the 108-ha Minh Quan Industrial Park and the 120-ha Au Lau Industrial Park.

YBO - Yen Bai has built several value chains for its major products, which have helped create concentrated production areas, reduce the situation of oversupply of products and raise incomes for local residents.

YBO - In 2019, Tran Yen became the first district of Yen Bai and the north-western region to be honoured with the new-style rural area title. Local authorities ever since have worked to meet advanced criteria and turn the district into an exemplary new-style rural area.

YBO - This year, Van Yen district will work to develop eight new products under the “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) programme. They consist of Na Hau sturgeon, “ca gai leo” (Solanum procumbens Lour) glue, Phuong Nhung cinnamon tea, Van Yen citronella and lime essential oil, Duong Canh orange, Nong Van Quynh homestay (Phong Du Thuong commune), Chau Que Thuong rice cake, and Minh Khai community-based eco-tourism site (Quang Minh commune).

YBO - Located in the Northwest of Vietnam, the national scenic site of Thac Ba lake is one of the three largest artificial lakes in Vietnam formed during the construction of Thac Ba Hydropower Plant. It runs through the territory of Yen Binh and Luc Yen districts, covering nearly 20,000 hectares of water surface and housing more than 1,300 large and small green islands and a system of caves deep in the heart of its limestone mountains.

YBO - The Noi Bai – Lao Cai Expressway, put into operation in 2014, has opened up various opportunities for the socio-economic development in Yen Bai. Since then, a number of key transport projects have been underway, promoting regional and inter-regional connection with the expressway.

YBO - The provincial People’s Committee started construction of a 44-km road connecting National Road 32 and the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway in a ceremony held in Gia Hoi commune, Van Chan district on January 9.
