YBO - Yen Bai authorities issued new registration licences for 147 businesses in the first six months while 24 enterprises were dissolved and 260 others stopped operations. Currently, there are 2,537 enterprises operating in the province.

YBO - In 2021, Van Chan district in Yen Bai province is assigned to build 60km of rural roads, with a total estimated capital of 100 billion VND, 50 percent of which will be contributed by locals in the form of working days, construction materials, and machinery. To date, the district has completed 51 percent of the assigned plan.

Designated as one of the four key communes for Bat Do bamboo shoot cultivation in Tran Yen district, Hung Khanh is focusing on zoning off and building bamboo shoot farming area while urging locals to switch from less-efficient crops to this kind of tree.

YBO - In the first quarter of this year, total revenue of agro-forestry processing enterprises in the bloc of provincial agencies and enterprises reached over 150 billion VND (6.51 million USD), paying over 10 billion VND (434,474 USD) to the State budget. The average income of labourers in the firms was 6.5 million VND (282 USD) per month.

YBO - In 2020, the movement to donate land for the construction of rural roads in Luc Yen district grew strongly. Nearly 1,000 local households voluntarily donated about 150,000sq.m of land, chopped down 20,000 big trees and removed nearly 4,800sq.m of walls for road building.

YBO - Thanks to the turning off of electricity devices in one hour in response to the Earth Hour 2021 on March 27 evening, Yen Bai saved 23,700 kWh of power.

Many households in Cuong Thinh commune of Tran Yen district in Yen Bai have grown “la khoi” (Ardisia silvestris) for use as herbal plant.

YBO - In 2020, Yen Binh district had more than 3,400ha of forest granted with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certificates. The area is managed by 2,410 households in the communes of Xuan Long, Ngoc Chan, Cam An, Yen Thanh, Vinh Kien, and Han Da.

YBO - Avian influenza A/H5N6 was recorded in two households in Tran Yen district and Yen Bai city between January 25 and February 9, affecting a total 9,500 poultry which were either dead or culled.

Despite a raft of difficulties facing Vietnam’s retail market, economists and insiders are still optimistic about the outlook for the sector in the time ahead, according to the Vietnam Report JSC.
