As of the end of November, the province had grown more than 16,047 ha of new forests, 3.5 percent higher than the set target. Forest coverage remained stable at 63 percent. Illegal exploitation, trade, smuggling and confinement of forestry products and animals have been basically brought under control.

Yen Bai has maintained 1,479 groups of 8,000 members specialising in wildfire suppression, as well as built and retained firefighting works, vehicles and tools.
With an aim to put utmost efforts in forest protection, the province will step up inspection, supervision, detection and prevention activities so as to promptly address violations of forestry laws.

It will bolster communication work and help forest owners build and carry out forest protection and wildfire prevention plans.

Local authorities will review, assess and keep a close watch on socio-economic development projects having impacts on forests, especially on natural, preventive and special use ones.

They will adjust and designate areas for the three types of forest in line with the forestry planning schemes of the country and the province in the 2021-30; handle violation cases; and carry out policies on payment of forestry environment services, and planting forests in replace of those removed for other purposes.

Earlier, the Yen Bai People’s Committee issued Directive No.17/CT-UBND on enhancing forest management and protection and wildfire prevention in the dry season in 2021 and 2022.
