Yen Bai ensures goods supply amid COVID-19

YBO - Amid complicated and unpredictable developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the provincial Department of Industry and Trade issued Plan No.2592/KH-SCT dated November 17 to ensure production and circulation of goods and necessities, closely monitor supply and demand to meet public demand.

At the same time, it looks to bring into full play the role of enterprises in production and trade, ensure the quality and quantity of goods and supply essential goods at reasonable prices at points of sale and quarantine facilities.

As of November, the province is home to 96 wet markets, one shopping centre, two supermarkets, 12 Vinmart+ outlets and 150 convenience stores. Food stockpiles and circulation increased by nearly 1.5-2 times.  

About rice supply, Yen Bai Food JSC is a main supplier with 300 tonnes constantly in stock. It could also raise additional 200 tonnes from the Vietnam Northern Food Corporation to increase supply.

Meanwhile, retailers can provide nearly 95 tonnes for the market. Their warehouses always store tens of tonnes of rice and suppliers also pledge to ensure timely and sufficient delivery when needed.

In communes and townships, about 760 tonnes of rice worth 11.4 billion VND are stored and circulated regularly.

As for fresh food, roughly 3,300 tonnes are put on the market each month. When demand hikes, it is possible to purchase around 700 tonnes from pandemic-free localities and via local supermarkets and retailers.

Supply of fresh vegetables can also meet demand with a monthly output of nearly 7,000 tonnes from the communes of Tuy Loc, Van Phu, Au Lau and Gioi Phien in Yen Bai city. Consumer goods are also available in local business establishments to serve daily use.

Pham Thi Thu Hang, Deputy Director of the Hang Hien Trade-Services Co.Ltd said her company will ensure the supply of instant noodles, fresh milk, bottled drinking water, monosodium glutamate, and fish sauce worth an estimated 7 billion VND.

As for masks and hand sanitiser, the province is now home to 495 wholesalers and retailers. When necessary, they will place orders from manufacturers nationwide.

Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade Trinh Van Thanh said the supply of necessities in the province remains abundant at stable prices. The department has built scenarios to meet consumption demand based on four levels of pandemic risks in the locality.

Businesses will follow their approved plans to ensure supply and circulation of necessities based on pandemic situation and realities in districts, townships and city./.

In 2024, Yen Bai City achieved vocational training for 2,259 individuals, exceeding the target of 1,790 by 115%. Of this total, 578 people were trained at the college level, achieving 125% of the assigned target of 461.
