(YBO) – The drafting of a general plan on building the Thac Ba Lake national tourism area by 2040 was identified by Yen Bai province as one of the focal tasks in 2023.

YBO - Yen Bai province has maintained good economic growth in the first six months of this year with positive changes recorded in the economic structuring and remarkable results in the implementation of tasks.

YBO - Van Yen district in the northern province of Yen Bai has more than 52,000 hectares of cinnamon in all 25 communes and towns, with more than 80% of households in the district engaging in the cultivation and earning high income from the tree.

In recent years, sturgeon breeding models have been set up and expanded in localities in Yen Bai province, marking a success in the breeding of this fastidious fish species.

YBO - Yen Bai’s main livestock population has so far reached 749,648, fulfilling 91.4% of the yearly target and increasing by 6.5% compared to the same period in 2022. Of the total, there are 96,542 buffaloes, 37,471 cows, and 615,635 pigs.

YBO - The provincial master planning scheme of Yen Bai includes the formation of two economic motivation centres, three economic regions, four growth pillars, and six connectivity axes, and 12 breakthrough initiatives.

YBO - After two years of implementation, a project on strengthening capacity in domestic solid waste management in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai has produced significant achievements.

YBO - In recent years, many households in Hung Thinh commune, Tran Yen district, have invested in farming native animals, meeting the market demand for specialty meats. This initiative has helped promote economic development and increase income.

YBO - Yen Binh district in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai has over 300 hectares of Bat Do bamboo shoots, mainly in My Gia, Yen Thanh, Xuan Lai, Cam Nhan communes, of which 200 hectares are under harvest.

YBO - Nghia Lo commune houses more than 25ha of plum plantations with an annual yield of over 700 tonnes of the fruit. The number of local plum farmers with annual revenue exceeding 100 million VND (4,260 USD) has also been on the rise.

YBO - Luc Yen district has made specific instructions to implement the “four-on-the-spot” model ready for the upcoming typhoon season.

YBO - Rural tourism comprises activities, services and facilities provided in rural areas with the aim of exploiting the strengths of the countryside to meet tourists' demand for experimenting.

YBO - The total capital investment from the State budget for Van Chan district to implement 115 projects is more than 140 billion VND (nearly 6 million USD). Of this sum, 78 billion VND comes from the district’s budget, 11 billion VND from the provincial budget and the rest from the national target programme as well as other lawful sources.

YBO - As a purely agricultural locality, Tran Yen district in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai has over the recent years determined to intensify the One Commune One Product (OCOP) programme and taken it as a key economic spearhead to build a comprehensive new-style rural district.

More and more individuals and units in Yen Bai province have participated in the “One Commune One Product” (OCOP) programme, and they are working towards professionalism in terms of mindset as well as packaging, consumption and distribution of products.

YBO - Issuing planting area codes as well as well implementing traceability are currently creating opportunities to increase the competitiveness of Yen Bai’s agricultural products in both domestic and export markets.

YBO - Viettel Yen Bai has recently partnered with the Yen Bai provincial Department of Planning and Investment and the Department of Information and Communications to organise a digital transformation workshop for over 30 local enterprises and cooperatives.

YBO -After years of preparation, at the beginning of 2023, the silk cocoon processing factory of the Yen Bai Sericulture JSC in Bao Dap commune, Tran Yen district was officially put into operation. Initially, two silk incubator chains for export will be launched, creating jobs for nearly 100 local workers.

Nowadays, a lot of Mong people in Mu Cang Chai district are engaged in the farming of carp on terraced fields after each transplanting season, bringing higher economic value.

Viet Hong commune of Tran Yen district, Yen Bai province, boasts favourable natural conditions for farming sturgeon. Making use of the potential, some local households have developed the farming of the cold-water fish in recent years and harvested initial success.

YBO - Luc Yen district authorities have organised a ceremony to receive certificates for using the trademarks of three local products granted by the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam (IPO) under the Ministry of Science and Technology.

YBO - The mountainous province of Yen Bai has a total natural land area of 689,268 ha, including 464,008 ha of forest land. With a forest coverage of 63%, the province is one of the six provinces with the largest forest coverage in the country.
