Yen Bai’s health sector continues to effectively implement cooperation activities with foreign partners.

The delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) participated in a telehealth consultation session between Yen Bai Provincial General Hospital and the Medical Center of Van Yen District.

Specifically, over the past nine months, the sector has conducted an evaluation of a nutritional communication toolkit and organized two training courses on basic knowledge regarding maternal and child healthcare. The training also provided guidance on using the toolkit as a communication tool under the project "Support for Improving Maternal and Child Health in Yen Bai Province," funded by Val-de-Marne Province (France).
At the same time, the sector has carried out regular monitoring activities, visits, and meetings in various localities (including the Van Chan District Medical Center, participating in a communication event at Van Chan High School, and attending a parent club session in Mu Cang Chai District). It has also held regular meetings with the Yen Bai Provincial Project Management Board and the Van Chan District Project Management Board under the project "Improving reproductive health and sexual health for adolescents in Yen Bai Province," funded by Save the Children International (SC) in Vietnam.
In terms of foreign cooperation activities, the sector has collaborated with the provinces of Vientiane and Sainyabuli (Lao PDR) to provide training for two healthcare officials from Vientiane. Additionally, it hosted and worked with an inter-agency delegation from Sainyabuli Province during their visit to Yen Bai. Cooperation with Yunnan Province (China) is also underway to prepare for the implementation of the "Light Journey" program, which offers free cataract surgery for the people of Yen Bai. Moreover, the sector received and worked with a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to survey and discuss the area for implementing the project "Technical Assistance for Strengthening the Capacity Development System for Healthcare Workers through Telemedicine," funded by JICA.
At the same time, the sector continues to implement cooperation activities with partners from South Korea and Japan at the Yen Bai Provincial General Hospital (under the project "Enhancing Capacity and Technical Support for the Medical Equipment Management System of Yen Bai Provincial General Hospital"). As a result, they received the fifth batch of equipment and tools for the medical equipment repair room, valued at $67,200. Discussions were held with the KOFIH Office in Hanoi regarding subsequent support activities, and ongoing discussions about implementing cooperative activities for 2024 with Busan Veterans Hospital (South Korea) were also conducted.
Within the framework of cooperation with Yokosuka Hospital in Japan, the health sector sent a delegation to visit and work with Yokosuka Hospital to discuss and agree on several collaborative activities for 2024. They are expected to host a delegation from Yokosuka Hospital, led by Professor Tanaka, the Director of Medical Services, for discussions planned for the fourth quarter of 2024.

The SPRINT project aims to improve the socio-economic welfare of ethnic minority women in Yen Bai Province. Running from 2024 to 2029, the project is funded by a non-refundable ODA budget of 9.75 million Canadian dollars.
Since the beginning of the year, Yen Bai Province has provided employment for over 20,900 workers, achieving 104.5% of its annual target. Notably, nearly 7,500 workers have transitioned from agricultural to non-agricultural sectors, surpassing the target at 107%.
The Swiss Ambassador to Vietnam, Thomas Gass, reaffirmed Switzerland's commitment to supporting Yen Bai Province in addressing the aftermath of natural disasters and collaborating on climate change response initiatives in the coming period.
In addition to recruiting teachers according to the allocated quota, Tran Huy Tuan, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Yen Bai Province, urged the province's education sector to rationally allocate teaching staff between lowland and highland areas, among schools, and across subjects. He proposed addressing the shortage of English and IT teachers through a combination of in-person and online teaching while advancing smart education via digital transformation.
