(YBO) - Yen Bai province has built nearly 50 production models certified as meeting the Vietnamese Good Agricultural Practices (VietGAP), Rainforest, organic agriculture, food hygiene and safety standards with a total area of over 10,000 hectares including rice, tea, fruit trees, vegetables and cinnamon, among others.

To create a clean food source with clear origin to meet consumers’ demands, the province has been focusing on planning and developing safe and environmentally friendly production areas.

Production models have paid attention to selecting varieties, especially plants that can resist pests and diseases, thereby minimising the use of pesticides.

Besides, the province has also applied new technologies in livestock waste treatment to create organic fertilizers for on-site use, slashing the use of chemical fertilizers.

To date, over 130 establishments and household groups have applied advanced quality management programmes such as VietGAP and organic, among others.
