Yen Bai leader works with Veneto region administration

YBO - A delegation of Yen Bai province, led by Do Duc Duy, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, on October 11 held a working session with the administration of Veneto region, as part of the delegation's working visit to Italy.

Addressing the event, Elisa De Berti, Vice President of the Veneto region applauded the increasingly good relationship between Vietnam and Italy.

She briefed the guest about the Veneto region, saying it is famous for Venice - a "floating city" - with a population of 5 million people. Located in the northeast of Italy, the region has strength in fashion, technology, seaports, shipbuilding, agricultural product processing, wine, wood and furniture products, leather and footwear, textiles and especially tourism with over 20 million visitors each year.

Berti expressed her impression of the Vietnamese province's efforts in calling for investment and preferential investment policies for businesses. She agreed that Yen Bai has potential and many advantages, adding that this is an opportunity for businesses in Italy and the Veneto region to explore different options.

Duy informed the host of the socio-economic situation in the province as well as its rich mineral resources. Yen Bai boasts large reserves of white limestone and stones which can be used as construction materials. It also has great potential in the wood processing industry.

The province leader hoped that the Veneto region and Yen Bai province will sign a cooperation agreement to enhance exchanges and seek collaboration opportunities between authorities, associations, and businesses in the two localities. The province wants to promote cooperation in the fields of economics, investment, trade, tourism, education - training, high-tech agriculture, processing and consumption of wood from planted forests, especially the exchange of information and experience in white stone mining and processing technology, the development of a carbon credit market and investment in tourism projects in the province.

Duy invited leaders of Veneto region to pay a working visit to Yen Bai province to accelerate the cooperation process between the two localities.

At the end of the working session, the two sides agreed on signing a cooperation agreement between the two localities soon, facilitating the implementation of cooperation content and for businesses from both sides to explore investment opportunities to contribute to deepening the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Italy.

Yen Bai province and Veneto region pledged to actively strengthen exchanges and explore cooperation opportunities between authorities, associations, and businesses in the two localities to enhance cooperation in the fields of economics, investment, and trade, tourism, education - training, high-tech agriculture, especially to exchange information and experience on technology, mining techniques and processing of high-end construction materials, as well as on trade and investment.
