Yen Bai: 1,060 contestants join provincial excellent students contest

YBO -The Department of Education and Training of Yen Bai province has inaugurated the provincial high school excellent students exam, and collected students to join in the national contest in the 2023 – 2024 academic year.

As many as 1,060 students are participating in the provincial contest, which takes place from September 28 – 30 at Nguyen Hue High School and Nguyen Tat Thanh High School for Gifted Students in Yen Bai city.

This year has seen the highest number of students participating in the provincial exam, 69 candidates higher than the figure reported in the previous event.

Meanwhile, 169 candidates will join eight groups to compete for seats in the national exam.

The candidates have taken the exam in 10 subjects, including literature, history, geography, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, English, Chinese, and informatics.

In the national excellent student contest in the 2022 – 2023 school year, Yen Bai’s students won 33 prizes, including two first, six second, 13 third and 12 consolation prizes.

Of those, contestants of the Nguyen Tat Thanh High School for Gifted Students won 31 prizes, and Chu Van An High School secured the remaining two prizes.

This was also the first time the number of winners has accounted for more than 50% of the total contestants.

Luc Yen District presents the provincial decision recognizing Dong Quan Commune as meeting NTM standards for 2024.

Luc Yen District has recently have two additional communes, Dong Quan and Khanh Hoa, officially recognized by the Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee as meeting the criteria for new rural standards (Nông Thôn Mới - NTM) in 2024.
