Yen Bai Farmers’ Union convenes 10th Congress

YBO - With the theme "Solidarity - Democracy - Integration - Cooperation - Development", the 10th Congress of Yen Bai provincial Farmers' Union for the 2023 – 2028 term was recently held with the participation of 215 delegates representing over 120,000 farmers throughout the province.

According to a report presented at the congress, during the past term, the provincial farmers' union completed and even surpassed all the 12 targets set in the resolutions of the 9th Congress and the Vietnam Farmers’ Union Central Committee. Specifically, 4,255 training classes were organised to transfer science and technology to 170,000 farmers. Twenty clubs of farmers who excel in production and doing business were set up with 340 members while 359 farming households got support to escape poverty sustainably.

The union also coordinated with the provincial Post Office to bring 138 One Commune One Product (OCOP) programme products onto the post office sector's e-commerce platform.

The Farmers Support Fund at all levels mobilised 33.9 billion VND (nearly 1.4 million USD), up 22.7 billion VND compared to the beginning of the term. The union also coordinated with banks to create favourable conditions for members to access loans. Fifty-four cooperatives were established along with 459 cooperative groups. A total of 29 products were recognised as meeting the criteria of the OCOP programme.

Farmer members donated nearly 500,000 sq.m of land, thousands of work days, and over 30 billion VND to upgrade rural roads and 3,000 km of in-field canals and other rural infrastructure under the new-style rural area building programme.

Authorised by the State President, Yen Bai Party Secretary Do Duc Duy presents the Independence Order, Second Class to the provincial Farmers' Union for its outstanding achievements in union work, contributing to socialism building and national defense.

In the new term, the provincial Farmers’ Union will strive to achieve 20 targets on agricultural, farmer and rural development. In particular, it will work to admit at least 8,000 new members, set up 350 farmer union professional groups and offer vocational training for at least 1,000 members. Every year, at least 60% of member households register to strive for the title of "excellent farmers in production and doing business”.

The Congress elected 30 members of the Executive Board of the provincial Farmers’ Union for 2023-2028 term and nine to the Standing Committee. Giang A Cau, Chairman of the 9th Congress of the provincial Farmers’ Union was re-elected as chairman of the 10th Congress for 2023 – 2028 term.

On this occasion, the provincial Farmers' Union was awarded the Independence Order, Second Class by the State President for having outstanding achievements in performing its duty, contributing to building socialism and protecting the Fatherland.

The Vietnam Farmers’ Union Executive Board handed over a certificate of merit to Yen Bai province’ chapter for outstanding achievements in the union work and farmer movement for the 2018 - 2023 term and presented the medal "For the Vietnamese Farmer Class" for four individuals who have a lot of contribution to building the farmer class and the union.

Ten collectives and 15 individuals with outstanding achievements in the union work and the farmer movement for the 2018 - 2023 term were awarded certificates of merit from the Chairman of the provincial People's Committee.

In 2024, the total value of activities conducted by the Red Cross Society of Yen Bai Province exceeded 86 billion VND, benefiting 230,105 individuals.

Luc Yen District presents the provincial decision recognizing Dong Quan Commune as meeting NTM standards for 2024.

Luc Yen District has recently have two additional communes, Dong Quan and Khanh Hoa, officially recognized by the Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee as meeting the criteria for new rural standards (Nông Thôn Mới - NTM) in 2024.
