JICA volunteer to help Yen Bai province in childhood care, education

OYB - The Women’s Union of Yen Bai province has organised a welcome ceremony for Saito Yuriko – a volunteer of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), who will work at the provincial women support centre.

Chairwoman of the provincial Women’s Union Nguyen Thi Bich Nhiem expressed her belief that with her experience in preschool education and tourism in Japan, Yuriko will make significant contributions to the centre’s childhood care and education.

The volunteer’s help is also expected to help the centre improve its operation, she said, pledging that the union and the centre will create optimal conditions for Yuriko to complete her missions there.

Nhiem also spoke highly of cooperation programmes and support by JICA and Japan through the dispatch of volunteers to help Yen Bai and the union over the past years.

Senior advisor to the JICA Volunteer Programme Hanazato Nobuhiko said the agency has sent many volunteers to Yen Bai, who have received praise from local authorities and agencies.  

JICA wants to continue sending volunteers to assist the locality in different fields, he said, noting that their activities will contribute to promoting cooperation between the two sides.

Yuriko, 39, had worked as a volunteer in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau for more than nine months. She is scheduled to work at the centre in Yen Bai for two years, focusing on childhood care and education. The volunteer is also learning Vietnamese./.

Luc Yen District presents the provincial decision recognizing Dong Quan Commune as meeting NTM standards for 2024.

Luc Yen District has recently have two additional communes, Dong Quan and Khanh Hoa, officially recognized by the Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee as meeting the criteria for new rural standards (Nông Thôn Mới - NTM) in 2024.
