26 key public investment projects rolled out in Yen Bai

YBO - Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung had a working session with officials of Yen Bai province on April 13 over public investment.

Local authorities reported that since the beginning of this tenure, the province has achieved a growth rate of 7.86%, ranking third among the 14 provinces in the northern midland and mountainous region. In the first quarter of this year, it claimed the seventh place, with many important economic indicators maintained.  

Between 2021 and 2025, Yen Bai province has rolled out 26 key public investment projects worth over 12.6 trillion VND (536.55 million USD). The locality has received nearly 3.8 trillion VND from the State budget for 2023. As of April 11, it had disbursed over 702 billion VND, equivalent to 18.5% of the plan and higher than the national average.

For this year, the Prime Minister has set aside 608.5 billion VND from the central budget to Yen Bai to materialise national target programmes, of which 223 billion VND has been disbursed so far, fulfilling 36.7% of the plan.

Minister Nguyen Chi Dung and the trade union of the Ministry of Planning and Investment financially support the construction of houses for the poor in Yen Bai.

Speaking at the working session, Dung expressed his impression on Yen Bai’s innovation, new mindset and experience in public investment disbursement, and encouraged local residents to donate land to projects.  

The minister noted his belief that Yen Bai, with many bright spots in potential and advantages, especially the harmony between economic development and culture, society, and environment, will grow further, turning itself into a centre of the northern midland and mountainous region.

He suggested provincial authorities pay more attention to administrative reform and investment environment improvement, and put forth plans to remove difficulties for each project and enterprise, and to accelerate the progress of projects in the locality.

As part of the implementation of the 2021–2025 National Target Programs (NTPs), Tran Yen District has disbursed over VND 70 billion as of the end of March 2025.
