Duy expressed his pleasure to engage in farming activities with local residents, saying that this activity contributes to strengthening the connection of provincial officials and Party members with local residents.

At the same time, it helps all-level leaders of the province to get a better understanding of the situation and aspirations of locals, thus making timely and proper adjustments in their direction and leadership activities, he said

Duy said he is delighted at the positive change in mindset of Mong people in Tram Tau from agricultural production to agricultural economy.

Local residents have actively registered to expand their farming area, buy seedlings and fertilisers to plant eddoes without waiting for support from the State. Tram Tau upland eddoes have been available in e-commerce platforms as well as Hanoi and nearby localities.

Tram Tau has generally formed an eddo selling chain, while developing a number of large-scaled concentrated and sustainable production areas in Ban Mu, Ban Cong and Xa Ho communes. Tram Tau eddoes have received intellectual property protection on over 600 hectares, which generate over 70 billion VND (nearly 3 million USD) for local farmers. The district is striving to expand the protected area to over 1,000 hectares by 2025, while building a selling chain and getting their eddo products recognised as a 4-5-stars OCOP product./.
