Yen Bai leaders hold first dialogue with local women

YBO - On the occasion of the 113th International Women’s Day (March 8), and the 1983rd anniversary of the Hai Ba Trung (the two Trung sisters)'s uprising, the Yen Bai Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee held the first dialogue between provincial leaders and local women, during which the province also honoured women for their contributions and dedication to the locality’s socio-economic development and the promotion of women’s role in building their family.

The dialogue was held at the provincial Convention Centre with online connection to eight districts and towns, drawing nearly 900 participants.

The organising board received 20 questions on various topics related to the strengthening of women’s movements and the empowerment of women in making contributions to the socio-economic development, thus improving the happiness and gender equality index of the locality.

Addressing the event, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Do Duy Duc said that the questions raised at the dialogue are issues drawing great attention of local leaders and women, including the promotion of women’s role and affairs related to female officials in the political system; women’s engagement in economic development; mechanisms and policies to support women; women and social matters; and gender equality.

In order to continue effectively implementing patriotism movements, targets in socio-economic development and the building of the Party and political system as well as gender equality for women’s progress, the provincial leader asked the administration at all levels, sectors and local women to pay greater attention to training activities, providing women with favourable conditions to ensure their comprehensive development.

At the same time, it is necessary to provide women with opportunities to study, thrive, develop, prove themselves and devote, he said.

He requested the Party Committees and administrations at all levels, departments, agencies and localities across the province to pay heed to opinions of women, thus designing and proposing policies, solutions and programmes to support women in joining socio-economic activities, while giving them vocational training, employment support and ensuring gender equality.

The provincial leader also underlined the need to strengthen communications to encourage the activeness, creativeness and engagement in patriotic movements, campaigns and national target programmes, thus boosting the fast and sustainable development of Yen Bai in a green, harmonised and happy direction with local identity.

Luc Yen District has recently have two additional communes, Dong Quan and Khanh Hoa, officially recognized by the Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee as meeting the criteria for new rural standards (Nông Thôn Mới - NTM) in 2024.
