Provincial officials meet with outstanding intellectuals, artists

Officials from the provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Vietnam Father Land Front (VFF) Committee on April 11 attended a gathering with outstanding intellectuals and artists in the province.

Over the years, the provincial Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee have issued many resolutions and policies to create favourable conditions for the development of intellectuals and artists.

By the end of 2022, the province counted 23,000 intellectuals, of which 35 people have doctorate degrees; over 1,200 people have master's degrees; and over 15,000 people with bachelor’s degrees.

Since 2011, there have been 367 scientific research projects in the province, which have been applied in practice with practical outcomes in various fields.

Literature and art are also constantly developing, reflecting the social life and promoting the values of truth - goodness - beauty, actively contributing to improving the spiritual life and happiness index for local residents as well as popularising Yen Bai's image to the public. Many literary and artistic works have won high prizes in domestic and international competitions, leaving a deep impression on the public.

In recognition of the great contributions of the contingent of intellectuals and artists, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Do Duc Duy asked Party committees, authorities, Fatherland Front chapters and mass organisations at all levels to continue to popularise the position, role, and importance of the contingent of intellectuals, scientists and artists in the cause of national construction and defence. He added that this is a regular political task of each party committee, government, agency, unit and locality.

Mechanisms and policies should be put in place to attract and offer adequate treatment to talents, scientists, artists, and intellectuals with high professional qualifications, he said, adding that favourable conditions should be created for them to promote their creativity.

Duy suggested that the intellectuals and artists in the province should continue to devote their enthusiasm and creativity to produce more high-quality scientific and artistic works that have practical significance, as well as accompany the Party committees, authorities and people in the cause of construction and development of the homeland.

At the gathering, intellectuals and artists contributed ideas on the conservation and promotion of traditional cultural values, contributing to the orientation toward "Greenness, harmony, identity and happiness"; upholding the heroic tradition of the province, stepping up the research and application of science and technology to building strong and comprehensive armed force as well as promoting the role of young intellectuals to the construction of the Party and political system of the province.
The delegates also proposed a number of solutions to foster the role of scientific and technological intellectuals in the socio-economic development of the locality.

On this occasion, the provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and VFF Committee handed over gifts to a contingent of outstanding intellectuals and artists of Yen Bai province in 2023.

Luc Yen District presents the provincial decision recognizing Dong Quan Commune as meeting NTM standards for 2024.

Luc Yen District has recently have two additional communes, Dong Quan and Khanh Hoa, officially recognized by the Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee as meeting the criteria for new rural standards (Nông Thôn Mới - NTM) in 2024.
