Yen Bai announces decisions on merger of administrative units

YBO - Van Chan district of Yen Bai province has announced the decision on the establishment of Son Thinh township while Tran Yen district has announced the decision on merger of commune-level administrative units.

Van Chan district recently held a ceremony to announce the Decision of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on the establishment of Son Thinh township. In 1998, Son Thinh commune became the centre of the district.

Over the past years, implementing the goal of upgrading Son Thinh commune into a township, Van Chan district has invested in building infrastructure of Son Thinh commune, creating a beautiful landscape and clean environment.

The socio-economic situation in Son Thinh has seen great progress, with infrastructure and rural transportation increasingly improved. The commune has a natural area of over 31,000ha and a population of over 8,800 living in 15 villages. The average income reaches over 31.5 million VND per person per year and the rate of poor households fall to less than 12 percent.

In Tran Yen district, Y Can commune has just announced Resolution No. 871 of Standing Committee of the National Assembly on the arrangement of district- and commune-level administrative units in Yen Bai province. Accordingly, Tran Yen district will merge Minh Tien commune into Y Can commune. The decisions of the district Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Fatherland Front Committee and socio-political organizations for Y Can commune were also announced.

According to the Resolution, the entire 7.06sq.m of natural area and 1,518 people of Minh Tien commune will be merged into Y Can commune. After the merger, new Y Can commune will have a natural area of 42.30sq.m and a population of 4,750.

After merging Minh Tien commune into Y Can commune, Tran Yen district will have 21 commune-level administrative units, including 20 communes and one township.

Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tran Huy Tuan personally presented support and gifts to workers facing hardships across Yen Bai Province.

In 2024, the total value of activities conducted by the Red Cross Society of Yen Bai Province exceeded 86 billion VND, benefiting 230,105 individuals.

Luc Yen District presents the provincial decision recognizing Dong Quan Commune as meeting NTM standards for 2024.

Luc Yen District has recently have two additional communes, Dong Quan and Khanh Hoa, officially recognized by the Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee as meeting the criteria for new rural standards (Nông Thôn Mới - NTM) in 2024.
