Yen Bai achieves high results at national sport tournaments in July

YBO - Yen Bai athletes brought home the glory in the national tournaments of various sports last month.

The Yen Bai team settled with four gold medals in men’s doubles aged 16-17, women’s doubles aged 14-15, men’s singles under 13 and mixed doubles under 13 at the national youth shuttlecock kicking championship 2022. The tournament was held in the central province of Nghe An, attracting about 300 athletes from 12 cities and provinces competing in six categories. They also won two silver and six bronze medals.

In early July, the province grabbed a gold in men’s singles and six bronze medals in other categories at the national beach shuttlecock kicking tournament 2022 which took place in Nha Trang, the south-central province of Khanh Hoa.

The National Youth Sepak Takraw Championship 2022 was organised in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue from July 15 – 25, during which Yen Bai earned a gold, a silver and two bronze medals, ranking third in the medal table.

Its under-18 players finished third at the national youth handball championship which gathered teams from five cities and provinces, namely Hanoi, HCM City, Yen Bai, Ha Giang and Binh Dinh. Meanwhile, the under-20 claimed the second spot.

Yen Bai also came third, after Can Tho and Hanoi, at this year’s national 5x5 under-18 basketball championship hosted by Da Nang from July 12 – 20.

It won a silver and three bronze medals at each of the two national martial arts tournaments – the national championship for traditional martial arts clubs in Dong Nai and the national youth Vovinam championship in Quang Nam.

Yen Bai ranks third on the medal tally at the National Youth Sepak Takraw Championship 2022 in Thua Thien-Hue.
