Yen Bai loses about 1.3 billion VND to downpour, cold weather

YBO - As of 4pm on February 24, heavy rains and gritting cold weather starting from February 19 had caused losses of about 1.3 billion (56,955 USD) to Yen Bai province.

The long downpours submerged 110ha of rice paddies and more than 26ha of other crops. Some 70 cattle froze to death, of which 43 were in Tram Tau, 23 in Mu Cang Chai and two in Luc Yen. Flooding killed one person and swept away two temporary bridges in Van Yen district.

Localities have applied measures to offset consequences of natural disasters and kept a close watch on the weather as biting cold are predicted in early mornings and nights of coming days.

Luc Yen District has recently have two additional communes, Dong Quan and Khanh Hoa, officially recognized by the Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee as meeting the criteria for new rural standards (Nông Thôn Mới - NTM) in 2024.
