The province focused on early and remote prevention of the pandemic via ensuring the implementation of the 5K measures, vaccination, early detection, quick quarantining, and effective treatment, among others.
It also tried to promptly assist enterprises and workers in need and push for production and business recovery.
As a result, Yen Bai ended the year exceeding 11 out of its 32 targets, meeting 14, and failing seven. The local growth rate of GRDP was estimated at 7.11 percent, up 1.66 percent against 2020 and ranking it 12th out of the 63 provinces and cities nationwide.
Its agricultural growth rate reached 5.36 percent thanks to the implementation of the local policies in aid of agro-forestry-fishery production development for 2021-2025.
Mindful of its strength in forestry economy, Yen Bai actively worked to protect and develop its forests, expanding the local areas granted with forest management certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) to 23,500ha at the end of 2021. Meanwhile, its total afforestation area reached 16.047 ha, exceeding the yearly plan by 3.5 percent.

Regarding the provincial One Commune One Product (OCOP) programme, Yen Bai had 118 rated products from the three-star level to above.
The province exported goods worth 226.3 million USD in 2021, 2.9 percent higher than planned, with its industrial production value estimated at 13.35 trillion VND. The local State budget collection hit 4.383 trillion VND, an annual increase of 22 percent and the highest achieved to date.
In 2022, the province will continue the implementation of its measures to tackle COVID-19 impacts, ease difficulties for business and production, recover and sustain economic growth.

On January 16, the Yen Bai Provincial Labor Federation organized the 2025 "Tet Sum Vay" program under the theme “Tet Sum Vay – Spring of Gratitude to the Party,” aiming to encourage, support, and care for union members and workers in Luc Yen District.
In 2024, the total value of activities conducted by the Red Cross Society of Yen Bai Province exceeded 86 billion VND, benefiting 230,105 individuals.
