Yen Bai: Foreign Direct Investment Activities Show Promising Growth

In an ongoing effort to improve the investment and business environment, the first three months of 2025 have seen a positive trend in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) activities in Yen Bai province, with several encouraging signals compared to the same period last year. Specifically, the total FDI capital in Yen Bai is estimated at 125.575 billion VND, achieving 14.77% of the 2025 annual target, representing an 11.66% increase compared to the previous year.

There are several notable FDI projects that reflect this growth, such as the commercial construction project in Yen Ninh Ward, Yen Bai City, part of a new urban area (land along the Bach Lam Bridge to the Tuan Quan Bridge) with a total investment of 164.3 billion VND by Vietnam-Japan Real Estate Joint Stock Company (Thailand).

Another significant project is the Yen Bai 1 Biomass Power Plant located in the North Van Yen Industrial Cluster in Dong Cuong Commune, Van Yen District, with a total investment of 2.971 trillion VND by Erex Yen Bai Biomass Power Plant Co., Ltd. (Japan).

Additionally, the Erex Sakura Yen Bai Biomass Fuel Plant in the North Van Yen Industrial Cluster, Dong Cuong Commune, Van Yen District, has a total investment of 509 billion VND by Erex Sakura Biomass Yen Bai Co., Ltd. Another notable project is the shoe production and export factory at CN04, CN07, and CN08, Minh Quan Industrial Park, Minh Quan Commune, Tran Yen District, with a total investment of 160 billion VND by Ruian Vietnam Footwear Co., Ltd. (China). The Go! Yen Bai supermarket, with an investment of 128 billion VND by Big C An Lac Supermarket Trading and Service Co., Ltd. (Central Retail Group, Thailand), and the Cinnamon Processing and Production Plant project in Van Yen, located in Yen Dung Village, Yen Hop Commune, Van Yen District, with an investment of 350 billion VND by Son Ha Spice Co., Ltd., are also significant contributors to the region’s investment landscape.

With the province’s goal of achieving double-digit economic growth in 2025, Yen Bai is committed to continuing its foreign relations and investment promotion activities, actively targeting potential markets. The province is encouraging investment in the industrial and service sectors, with a focus on industries with high potential. It will also collaborate with major FDI investors to increase the occupancy rates of industrial zones and clusters, ensuring that infrastructure is ready to accommodate large investment projects.

Since the beginning of 2025, the implementation of a range of coordinated measures has enabled Yen Bai Province to achieve positive outcomes in the disbursement of public investment capital. Notably, the province ranks among the 35 provinces and cities with disbursement rates higher than the national average.

Since 2021, Yen Bai Province has transitioned 39,289 workers from agriculture to non-agricultural sectors.

Over the five-year period from 2021 to 2025, Yen Bai Province has created jobs for 110,339 workers. Of these: 56,393 were employed through socio-economic development programs, 11,907 accessed loans from the National Employment Fund, 2,886 worked abroad under labor export programs, and 39,153 were supplied to out-of-province employers.
