Yen Bai Now Has 40 Mobile 5G Stations

In an effort to achieve the national and provincial digital transformation goals by 2025, with a vision toward 2030, Yen Bai province has been implementing synchronized solutions, with a strong focus on digital infrastructure development.

Currently, the province has 228 postal service points operated by eight enterprises, ensuring that 100% of communes have at least one staffed postal service point. Among them, 142 provide public postal services and assist in guiding, receiving, digitizing administrative documents, and returning processed results.

Yen Bai has successfully eliminated 39 areas with no 3G or 4G signal coverage and upgraded 86 mobile base stations, bringing the total number of mobile transmission stations in the province to 2,640. Notably, the number of 5G mobile stations has increased from three in 2023 to 40, covering four localities: Yen Bai City (at Km5 Square and Wincom Plaza Shopping Center), Van Yen District (at Dong Cuong Temple), Nghia Lo Town (at Bong Lua Square), and Yen Binh District.

At present, broadband fixed-line infrastructure reaches 100% of communes, wards, and townships, while 4G mobile network coverage extends to over 99% of villages, an increase of 0.8% compared to 2023. Internet service quality in urban areas, industrial zones, tourist sites, and densely populated areas has improved, ensuring a minimum speed of 40 Mbps. Additionally, two new BTS stations have been constructed to provide 4G coverage for 257 households (over 1,000 residents) in three off-grid villages in Che Tao Commune and 114 households in Hang A Village, Ho Bon Commune, Mu Cang Chai District.

The number of cultural houses with Internet access has reached 1,046 out of 1,306, accounting for 80%, an increase of 3% compared to 2023. The estimated mobile phone penetration rate is 85 per 100 residents, with over 95% of subscribers using smartphones. Meanwhile, 62% of households subscribe to digital television services and other paid digital applications. The province currently has over 800 telecom service providers.

As part of the nationwide 2G shutdown, over 70,000 mobile subscribers in Yen Bai have transitioned from 2G to 4G, effectively reaching the province’s target.
