In recent years, the locality has stepped up efforts in communication, image promotion, administrative reform, and proactive investment attraction, contributing to local socio-economic growth. In addition to its rich mineral resources and distinctive cultural identity, Yen Binh also benefits from a large, youthful labor force, with people aged 15 and above accounting for over 63% of the population—creating a highly appealing human resource environment for potential investors.
With a strategic orientation that considers industry and handicrafts as the foundation and tourism as a spearhead sector, Yen Binh District has prioritized attracting investment in areas of local comparative advantage such as manufacturing, mineral processing, building material production, agro-forestry product processing, aquaculture, and the development of resorts, hotel systems, and restaurants to serve tourism.
The district has developed an Action Program to improve its investment and business environment and enhance district-level competitiveness (DDCI - District and Department Competitiveness Index). It has also undertaken reviews, adjustments, and updates to socio-economic development plans, sectoral plans, and core product strategies to align with new development demands. Administrative reform has been strengthened, promoting a "service-oriented government” mindset. Administrative procedures have been made transparent, and public officials have received training to improve their professional capacity.
Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Deputy Director of Thac Ba 2 Hydropower Investment Joint Stock Company— the implementing entity of the Thac Ba 2 Hydropower Plant project—shared: "During project implementation, we have consistently received strong support from local authorities at both district and grassroots levels. Site clearance and legal procedures for investment were handled smoothly, creating favorable conditions for construction to proceed on schedule.”
To date, the district has attracted 78 investment projects approved or licensed by the provincial People’s Committee, with a total registered capital of VND 16,886.72 billion and USD 17.5 million. These projects span various sectors, including high-tech agriculture, forestry, and fisheries; supporting industries; urban and infrastructure development; tourism; and high-tech, environmentally friendly industrial production.
Thanks to proactive investment attraction and comprehensive production development, Yen Binh's economy has witnessed a positive structural shift, with a declining share of the agriculture, forestry, and fishery sectors, and a growing emphasis on industry and services. The material and spiritual lives of local residents have steadily improved, with the poverty rate declining by an average of 4% annually.
Currently, the district continues to prioritize industrial development by focusing on both large-scale, in-depth processing industries and the growth of small-scale, supporting industries linked to handicrafts and traditional craft villages. Efforts are being concentrated on attracting investment for infrastructure development, expanding the planning of the Thinh Hung Industrial Cluster, and inviting financially capable, high-tech enterprises to invest in production. Simultaneously, the district is promoting the establishment of new industrial clusters in the eastern region of Thac Ba Lake and Phu Thinh Commune.
Mr. La Tuan Hung, Vice Chairman of Yen Binh District People’s Committee, affirmed: "The district is committed to supporting and accompanying investors throughout the entire process—from administrative procedures, land and site clearance, to investment, tax, and financial policies—based on a spirit of partnership, service, shared benefits, and risk-sharing.”
Accordingly, the district will attract investment by zoning development areas and building investment plans based on each region’s strengths to ensure focus and effectiveness. The local government also hopes investors will frequently provide feedback, contribute ideas, and propose solutions to remove obstacles, thereby jointly fostering a strong and sustainable business community in Yen Binh. In addition, the district calls on enterprises to pay attention to effective environmental and waste management, care for workers' well-being, and actively participate in social welfare programs.
