Yen Bai prioritises resources for pandemic control

YBO - Despite adverse impacts of COVID-19, Yen Bai managed to maintain and expand socio-economic developments in the first seven months of this year, with relatively high rises in a number of major indications.

Specifically, the province’s industrial production index in July rose 6.59 percent over the previous month and 8.08 percent against the same period last year. Total retail revenue of goods and services increased 15 percent, while export revenue grew 52 percent. State budget collection was also up 20 percent, while total development investment expanded 8.5 percent.

So far, Yen Bai is one of the four localities nationwide without any locally-transmitted COVID-19 cases.

However, the pandemic, which has spread complicatedly across the country, has affected important economic indications of the province, resulting in a low economic growth rate at less than 50 percent of the province’s plan.

At a meeting of the provincial People’s Committee in July, Chairman of the committee Tran Huy Tuan asked administrations in all localities and sectors to continue to strictly implement central and provincial directions on COVID-19 prevention and control, avoiding negligence and irresponsibility in the work, while minimising meetings and spending budget in an economic manner to give more resources for pandemic prevention and control activities.

Departments, sectors and localities were also asked to stick to targets and tasks set in the provincial Party Committee's action plan and resolutions of the provincial People’s Council as well as the provincial People's Committee's Action Plan No.2 and scenario on adjustments of economic growth in the last six months of 2021, thus comprehensively and effectively implementing the "dual targets,” striving to complete all socio-economic plans for this year.

Since the beginning of 2025, the implementation of a range of coordinated measures has enabled Yen Bai Province to achieve positive outcomes in the disbursement of public investment capital. Notably, the province ranks among the 35 provinces and cities with disbursement rates higher than the national average.

Since 2021, Yen Bai Province has transitioned 39,289 workers from agriculture to non-agricultural sectors.

Over the five-year period from 2021 to 2025, Yen Bai Province has created jobs for 110,339 workers. Of these: 56,393 were employed through socio-economic development programs, 11,907 accessed loans from the National Employment Fund, 2,886 worked abroad under labor export programs, and 39,153 were supplied to out-of-province employers.
