Yen Bai children show strong performance in academic, social activities

YBO - There are 240 Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Organisation's chapters with more than 270,000 children in the province.

Over the past five years, 287 local children have been honoured and received scholarships and noble awards from the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, including Kim Dong Awards, Doraemon scholarship, Nguyen Thai Binh and Vu A Dinh scholarships, along with certificates of merit from the provincial People’s Committee and Youth Union.

Their achievements were thanks to the great attention and support from their family, school and the Children’s Councils at all levels.

Along with the organisation of competitions on "Clean notebook, Good handwriting,” "Good learning hour – Good learning week,” "Supporting friends in overcoming difficulties,” the Children Councils at all levels have paid great attention to scientific research activities among local children. In the 2016-2021 period, the province has seen hundreds of creative models invented by children.

Notably, a project on "clothes drying system using fire stove”  by Lo Van Chung from class 9A and Ly Van Tuan from class 9B of the Tu Le primary school of Van Chan district won first prize at the provincial science-technology contest in the 2016-2017 academic year.  

Meanwhile, a fish feeding device by Hoang Ngoc Duy and Hoang Ngoc Son from Yen Binh district received consolation prize at the 14th national innovation contest for youngsters and children in the 2017-2018 academic year.

Along with creating many useful playgrounds for children, over the years, the Children’s Councils at all levels in Yen Bai has organised extra-curriculum activities and thematic events for local children, including programmes to "build good friendship and prevent violence at schools,” "One beautiful story each week,” "Building good behavior culture in schools,” and "Speak good words, Make good jobs”.

In recent years, the Children’s Councils at all levels have made great contributions in successfully implement the "Road to school” project with total length of 123km, which is built at an estimated cost of over 55 billion VND (2,38 million USD) raised by the councils at all levels.

The councils also coordinated with donors to present more than 100 scholarships and gifts worth nearly 10 billion to poor children from remote and mountainous areas and enthnic minority groups, giving them chances to go to school.

The project to build charity houses by the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organisation of Hoang Van Thu primary and secondary school in Nghia Lo township has brought about practical efficiency.

Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tran Huy Tuan personally presented support and gifts to workers facing hardships across Yen Bai Province.

On January 16, the Yen Bai Provincial Labor Federation organized the 2025 "Tet Sum Vay" program under the theme “Tet Sum Vay – Spring of Gratitude to the Party,” aiming to encourage, support, and care for union members and workers in Luc Yen District.

Comrade Ta Van Long, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council, and Honorary Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society, presented certificates of merit to organizations and individuals with outstanding achievements in 2024.

In 2024, the total value of activities conducted by the Red Cross Society of Yen Bai Province exceeded 86 billion VND, benefiting 230,105 individuals.

Luc Yen District presents the provincial decision recognizing Dong Quan Commune as meeting NTM standards for 2024.

Luc Yen District has recently have two additional communes, Dong Quan and Khanh Hoa, officially recognized by the Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee as meeting the criteria for new rural standards (Nông Thôn Mới - NTM) in 2024.

According to tradition, the Hmong community’s traditional Tet typically takes place one month before the Lunar New Year. This period marks the end of the harvest season, allowing everyone to rest after a year of hard work. Nowadays, most Hmong people celebrate the Lunar New Year alongside the rest of the nation.
