Yen Bai: 333 households voluntarily withdraw from list of poverty

YBO - During two years 2019 and 2020, a total of 333 poor households in Yen Bai province voluntarily wrote applications requesting to be removed from the list of poor households. In 2020 alone, there were 283 households asking to be recognised as having risen out of poverty, including 57 in Yen Bai city, five in Nghia Lo town, 149 in Van Yen district, 12 in Luc Yen, 53 in Tram Tau and seven in Van Chan.

They are examples of the change in mindset and the way of thinking on developing household economy and ending reliance on the State's support.

By doing so, they want the State's support can reach poorer households that need more assistance than them. By the end of 2020, the number of poor households in Yen Bai was reduced by 9,714, equivalent to a decrease rate of 4.52 percent compared to 2019.

Luc Yen District has recently have two additional communes, Dong Quan and Khanh Hoa, officially recognized by the Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee as meeting the criteria for new rural standards (Nông Thôn Mới - NTM) in 2024.
