Yen Bai province on high alert against COVID-19

YBO - As of 18:00 on April 27, Yen Bai province had reported five COVID-19 cases, including four Indian experts and a staff member of Yen Bai city’s Nhu Nguyet Hotel 2 where the Indians were put under mandatory 14-day quarantine.

All the patients have been quarantined and treated at the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases in Hanoi’s Dong Anh district.

Of those having close contact with these patients, 18 are being quarantined at concentrated centres, 12 at Nhu Nguyet Hotel 2 while 37 are self-quarantined at home.

Two medical labs at the province’s Centre for Disease Control and General Hospital have so far performed 6,505 COVID-19 tests. Two provincial general hospitals and eight district-level health centres have prepared facilities for COVID-19 treatment and quarantine while construction of a COVID-19 treatment hospital at Yen Bai Provincial Tuberculosis and Lung Hospital is ready to start at any time if the number of confirmed cases in the province exceeds 10.

Speaking at a meeting with the local steering committee for COVID-19 prevention and control on April 28, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vu Thi Hien Hanh ordered local officials to be held accountable for COVID-19 prevention and control and to not ease guard against the virus. She also asked for the acceleration of COVID-19 awareness campaign, particularly to encourage people to observe preventive rules.

People must wear face masks in public places, and violators must receive strict penalties while unnecessary mass gatherings should be restricted. Civil servants and people were also requested to not leave the province during the public holiday on National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day (May 1) and seriously comply with concentrated quarantine regulations.
