Gathering marks 40th anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day in Yen Bai

YBO - A gathering marking the 40th anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (November 20) was held at Convention Centre in the northern province of Yen Bai on November 16.

Over the past years, Yen Bai has adopted concerted measures to create basic and comprehensive changes to education-training and issued a number of resolutions, projects, policies and incentives to develop the sector.

The scale and network of schools, classrooms of different grades are arranged in a streamlined, reasonable and effective manner. The province is now home to 463 educational establishments with over 6,800 classes and 222,000 students. The rate of reinforced classrooms is over 84% while that of schools meeting national standards is 66%.

Attention has been paid to training teachers and education management officials. The quality of comprehensive education has kept improving, especially in remote and ethnic minority regions. The province has completed the universalisation of preschool education for 5-year-old children, met illiteracy eradication standards, the universalisation of primary education Level 3 and secondary education Level 2.

The quality of spearhead education has improved markedly, placing the province in the well-performing group of the northern midland and mountainous provinces. In particular, the province has students who won high prizes at the Olympic competitions in Asia-Pacific and the International Olympics. Thousands of outstanding teachers and education managers have been awarded with distinctions by the Party and State. In particular, 78 teachers have been conferred the title of "Meritorious Teacher".

Speaking at the event, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Do Duc Duy and Deputy Minister of Education and Training Ngo Thi Minh expressed profound appreciation for the great contributions by the teachers and education management officials. They also congratulated the provincial education sector on its achievements.

Duy said respect for teachers is always an invaluable tradition and unique culture of Vietnam over many generations. In the mind of every Vietnamese citizen, the image of a teacher is always appreciated and respected and above all, the teaching profession is honoured by the society as "the noblest among noble professions".

Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Tran Huy Tuan presents a certificate of merit to collectives that made excellent achievements in the emulation movement "Good teaching, good learning”.

The official asked the provincial education and training sector together with teachers and education officials to continue implementing resolutions, schemes and policies of the Party Central Committee and the provincial Party Committee, People’s Council and People’s Committee in the field.

They were assigned to continue arranging the size and network of schools and classrooms of different grades, pay attention to investing in infrastructure in a harmonious and modern manner to meet teaching and studying demand, and improve the quality of teachers and education management officials to meet reform requirements.

The officials urged improving the quality of comprehensive and spearhead education, education in ethnic minority areas; building a model of "digital transformation school”, "Happy School”; and spreading the spirit of innovation among teachers and education managers, taking it a decisive factor for the success of the country’s education reform cause.

Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tran Huy Tuan personally presented support and gifts to workers facing hardships across Yen Bai Province.

Luc Yen District presents the provincial decision recognizing Dong Quan Commune as meeting NTM standards for 2024.

Luc Yen District has recently have two additional communes, Dong Quan and Khanh Hoa, officially recognized by the Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee as meeting the criteria for new rural standards (Nông Thôn Mới - NTM) in 2024.
