Construction planning project of Mu Cang Chai district announced

YBO - Yen Bai province’s Mu Cang Chai district has coordinated with the provincial Department of Construction to hold a conference to announce the district’s construction planning project.

The scope of the construction planning project in the Mu Cang Chai district region includes one town and 13 communes, and the land scale for study and planning is 120,096 ha. The population of the planning area in 2020 was 65,042, and is forecasted to reach about 90,000 - 92,000 by 2030, and about 125,000 - 127,000 by 2050.

The objective of the project is to develop the local economy in association with green, safe and friendly tourism, with a focus on eco-resort tourism associated with the conservation and promotion of cultural identity, and putting tourism development in the overall development of agricultural, forestry and fishery sectors.

The project will divide Mu Cang Chai district into five main sub-regions as follow:

The urban service centre sub-region - the main driving force of the district – comprises Mu Cang Chai town and Kim Noi commune with a total natural area of 39.24 sq.km.

The energy economic sub-region in the northwest of the district is Ho Bon, Lao Chai and Khao Mang communes with a total natural area of 278.05 sq.km.

The biodiversity conservation and biosphere reserve sub-region in the southwest of the district is Che Tao commune with a total natural area of 235.38 sq.km.

The key natural tourism and resort development sub-region in the southeast of the district is La Pan Tan, De Xu Phinh, Pung Luong, Nam Khat and Cao Pha communes with a total natural area of 309.32 sq.km.

The agricultural and forestry economic sub-region in the northeast of the district comprises Mo De, Che Cu Nha and Nam Co communes with a total area of 335.90 sq.km.

Luc Yen District has recently have two additional communes, Dong Quan and Khanh Hoa, officially recognized by the Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee as meeting the criteria for new rural standards (Nông Thôn Mới - NTM) in 2024.
