In the first six months, the province recorded 20 fires, which killed one person, injured four others, and caused property damage worth more than 1.6 billion VND (68,500 USD).

The drill aimed at raising the responsibility of the community toward fire prevention and control and improving the capacity of handling fire incidents on the spot.

The drill revolved a fake fire in a room of the college’s dormitory. Although the fire department at the facility had implemented on-the-spot measures, the grassroots forces could not control the fire due to the presence of many combustible substances that give off a large amount of heat. Then the fire developed and spread.

After being reported on the case, the provincial fire prevention and control police quickly arrived at the scene and collaborated with other forces to save the victims and get the blaze under control.

With concerted efforts from the participants, the fire was quickly extinguished, ensuring safety and meeting technical requirements.

The drill was rounded off with six groups and 12 individuals granted commendations from the provincial People’s Committee and police for their outstanding achievements.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ngo Hanh Phuc, head of the Steering Committee, awarded certificates of merit to collectives and individuals with excellent achievements in organising the drills.
