Yen Bai official has working session with JICA delegation

YBO - Vice Chairman of the Yen Bai provincial People’s Committee Ngo Hanh Phuc has held a meeting with a visiting delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Wada Yoichi, senior advisor to the JICA volunteer programme at the JICA Office in Vietnam, expressed his hope that the provincial administration as well as the authorities and people of Mu Cang Chai district will create the best possible conditions for volunteers to perform their duties relevant to community-based tourism development.

In the time ahead, JICA will send another volunteer, also in community-based tourism, to Ngia Lo town.

He asked Yen Bai to continue putting forth proposals about the fields that this province is interested in so that JICA can offer assistance, thereby helping enhance Japan - Vietnam relations and the ties with Yen Bai province.

Briefing his guests on the local socio-economic situation in 2021, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Ngo Hanh Phuc said Yen Bai has received 20 official development assistance (ODA) projects worth over 133.5 billion VND (nearly 5.9 million USD) in total. There are five projects on transport, health care, and waste treatment with total committed funding of 381,028 USD from the Japanese Embassy.

Besides, the province signed an agreement with Mimasaka city of Japan’s Okayama prefecture to set up cooperative ties in vocational training, exchange of apprentices, labour export, agriculture, and tourism.

Phuc pledged that Yen Bai will provide favourable conditions for volunteers to work in the province. He also asked JICA to continue assisting Yen Bai in terms of education, health care, environmental protection, and climate change fight.

Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tran Huy Tuan personally presented support and gifts to workers facing hardships across Yen Bai Province.

On January 16, the Yen Bai Provincial Labor Federation organized the 2025 "Tet Sum Vay" program under the theme “Tet Sum Vay – Spring of Gratitude to the Party,” aiming to encourage, support, and care for union members and workers in Luc Yen District.

In 2024, the total value of activities conducted by the Red Cross Society of Yen Bai Province exceeded 86 billion VND, benefiting 230,105 individuals.

Luc Yen District presents the provincial decision recognizing Dong Quan Commune as meeting NTM standards for 2024.

Luc Yen District has recently have two additional communes, Dong Quan and Khanh Hoa, officially recognized by the Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee as meeting the criteria for new rural standards (Nông Thôn Mới - NTM) in 2024.
