Authorities, people in Yen Bai province join hands in pandemic combat

YBO - Yen Bai province has recorded new COVID-19 infections in Yen Binh and Tran Yen districts and Yen Bai city. The local political system is exerting every effort round the clock to contain the transmission of the coronavirus and thoroughly deal with pandemic clusters.

Right on November 27 evening, when the first community infection was reported, administrations at all levels in the province issued directions on pandemic prevention and control. Following that, localities have tightened discipline and applied strict anti-pandemic measures.

Since 7am on November 28, Yen Bai city and the districts of Tran Yen and Yen Binh have temporarily shut down karaoke bars, massage parlours, entertainment sites, and sports centres, while mass gatherings have been suspended. Local restaurants now only provide takeaway services.

Nguyen Tien Cong, owner of Ninh Cong Restaurant in Hop Minh ward of Yen Bai city, said his restaurant has seriously complied with requirements set by provincial and municipal authorities so as to ensure safety from the pandemic and protect the health of people and the whole community.

Making health declaration at the healthcare centre of Dong Tam ward, Bui Manh Anh Tuan, a resident in the ward, said although several COVID-19 cases have been recorded, the prompt and drastic actions by all-level administrations have enhanced people’s trust in the fight against the pandemic.

Bui Manh Truong, a resident in Yen Binh township of Yen Binh district, said even in the evening, leaders and relevant forces of the district and township came to affected areas to remind locals of seriously implementing disease prevention and control measures.

Yen Bai city is currently the largest pandemic hotspot with eight community infections seen in more than one day since the first was recorded. It has swiftly carried out anti-pandemic measures under the previously prepared plan. Yen Thinh Market has suspended operations since the noon of November 28.

Chu Quoc Quang, member of the market management board, said despite certain difficulties due to the suspension, local residents feel more secure as the health of themselves and the community will be safe.

On November 28, the Yen Bai provincial Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control issued an urgent dispatch on temporary adjustments to the quarantine of F1s, who are persons with close contact with those infected with the coronavirus.

It will take both authorities and people strenuous efforts to cope with the pandemic’s complex developments, but this is also an occasion for officials and Party members in the political system to bring into play their sense of responsibility towards the people. The victory over the pandemic is the victory of the people. The entire administration and people in Yen Bai province have been joining efforts to defeat the pandemic.

From November 27 to 8am on November 30, the province recorded 49 cases of COVID-19, all of whom have been quarantined and received treatment at the Hospital of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases and in stable condition. Meanwhile, there were 555 close contacts (F1s) and 2,571 others related to the F1s.
