The family of Luong Van Moi in Son Dong village of Mai Son commune is a poor household and has no cultivation land. He himself suffers from constant illness and loses his hearing. He and his wife never dare to think about having a solid house.
Knowing his family’s situation, the "Youth Connection" Group donated 50 million VND to Moi's family. With the help of relatives, neighbours and local authorities, Moi's family completed and put into use a new solid house. The group also sponsors 1 million VND per month for each of his two children.
like Moi’s family, Hoang Van Doi's in Village 2 of Muong Lai commune is a poor household too. His wife is often sick, and Doi is the main earner. Unexpected joy came to his family when they received 50 million VND from the "Youth Connection" Group. With the support of relatives, neighbours and local authorities, Doi's family built a spacious stilt house.
Trieu Van Huan, Secretary of the Muong Lai commune Party Committee, said this is a meaningful activity, motivating poor households and households with extremely difficult circumstances to rise out of poverty.
Established in 2014, the group has carried out many meaningful activities. Each year, it supports 10 poor households to build houses. The number of households receiving assistance now totals 70, with a combined amount of 3.5 billion VND. Currently, the group is sponsoring 80 poor children with 1 million VND per month each.
Dang Van Lam, representative of the "Youth Connection" Group in Luc Yen district, said that in 2021, the group plans to support 10 poor households to build houses across the country, focusing on households living in extremely difficult circumstances and having young children, the elderly and those with disabilities. Luc Yen district alone has six households, of which five in Mai Son, Minh Xuan, Tan Lap and Muong Lai communes received houses. One house in To Mau commune is under construction, and expected to be completed in December this year.
