NA Chairman attends opening of WCSP5

A Vietnamese delegation led by Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Vuong Dinh Hue attended the opening ceremony of the fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament (WCSP5) in the capital city of Austria, Vienna, on September 7.

Delegates at the event observed a one-minute silence to pay tribute to over 4 million people who died of COVID-19 in the past two years.

In his speech, Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Martin Chungong said that COVID-19 proves that global challenges can only be resolved by global efforts; and vaccine production and development is the hope for mankind to surmount the pandemic.

A plenary session was held under the chair of the IPU President and Secretary-General after the opening, which focused on prioritised fields for sustainable development.

Speaking at the session, NA Chairman Hue underlined that to achieve sustainable development, due attention should be paid to protecting lives and health of the people, and the environment, rather than just focusing on economic growth at any costs.

He added that Vietnam is determined not to trade the environment and people’s health for high economic growth in its national development strategy and plan, and always works towards the target of sustainable development in harmony with nature.

Vietnam hopes to cooperate with other nations and international organisations in ensuring people’s lives, environmental protection and economic development, the top Vietnamese legislator affirmed.

Yen Bai Province: 273 OCOP Products Certified with 3- to 4-Star Ratings

The Dai Phu An plant-based essential oil products from Van Yen District are currently being submitted for evaluation as 5-star OCOP items in the near future.

As of now, Yen Bai Province has a total of 273 OCOP (One Commune One Product) items certified, including 25 products rated 4 stars and 248 rated 3 stars.

Since the beginning of the year, Van Yen District has recorded 90 individuals participating in overseas labor programs. Among them, 45 workers were sent to Japan, 7 to South Korea, 36 to Taiwan, and 2 to Qatar. This makes Van Yen the locality with the highest number of overseas laborers in the province as of early 2025.

Yen Bai Achieves Positive Results in Public Investment Disbursement

Since the beginning of 2025, the implementation of a range of coordinated measures has enabled Yen Bai Province to achieve positive outcomes in the disbursement of public investment capital. Notably, the province ranks among the 35 provinces and cities with disbursement rates higher than the national average.

Yen Bai: 69.1% of Workforce Vocationally Trained

Since 2021, Yen Bai Province has transitioned 39,289 workers from agriculture to non-agricultural sectors.

Over the five-year period from 2021 to 2025, Yen Bai Province has created jobs for 110,339 workers. Of these: 56,393 were employed through socio-economic development programs, 11,907 accessed loans from the National Employment Fund, 2,886 worked abroad under labor export programs, and 39,153 were supplied to out-of-province employers.
