Mu Cang Chai terraced field conservation, development plan unveiled

YBO - The People’s Committee of Yen Bai has issued Plan No. 54/KH-UBND dated on March 14 on the conservation and promotion of the special national relic of Mu Cang Chai terraced rice fields in line with tourism development in the 2020-25, with a vision to 2030.

The plan aims to honour, conserve and promote the values of the special national relic of Mu Cang Chai terraced fields, as well as improve its scenery and environment in an effort to turn the relic into a tourism-cultural destination, thereby fostering the socio-economic development of Mu Cang Chai district in particular and Yen Bai province in general.

It also reveals tasks and solutions on strengthening leadership and management of local authorities over the conservation and promotion of the values of Mu Cang Chai terraced fields, as well as activities to preserve the relic. Communications on the special national relic in tandem with tourism development and training for tourism personnel are also included in the plan.

The plan is expected to raise local residents’ awareness of the conservation and promotion of Mu Cang Chai terraced fields, and mobilise more resources to boost tourism growth of the district, the western region and the province as a whole, thus contributing to Yen Bai’s socio-economic development.

Luc Yen District has recently have two additional communes, Dong Quan and Khanh Hoa, officially recognized by the Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee as meeting the criteria for new rural standards (Nông Thôn Mới - NTM) in 2024.
