YBO - Amid growing consumer demand for transparency in product information, especially regarding agricultural products, traceability through barcodes and QR codes is considered an effective solution to ensure consumer confidence while also preventing commercial fraud.

In order to enhance the effectiveness of state management and support businesses, cooperatives, production households, and facilities in improving the competitiveness of their products, Yen Bai Province has operated a product traceability information system since 2013.

This traceability system involves product identification and the collection and storage of information on the product’s status over time and location, thereby managing quality and safety information. This practice plays an increasingly important role in protecting consumer rights, enhancing business competitiveness, and preventing commercial fraud.

Currently, many of the province’s key products are integrated with traceability labels and systems, including: Shan Tuyet tea from Suoi Giang; Nam Lanh bamboo shoots and Tu Le sticky rice (Van Chan District); yellow tea from Minh An Cooperative, San Tuyet tea from Phinh Ho, and taro (Tram Tau District); Dai Minh pomelo (Yen Binh District); cinnamon essential oil and sturgeon from Na Hau (Van Yen District). Most products participating in the traceability portal have been certified as 3-star or 4-star OCOP products by the province.

To achieve the goal of tracing at least 10 key agricultural, forestry, fishery, and food product groups by the end of 2025, and to integrate them into the National Product Traceability Portal, Yen Bai’s functional agencies are actively supporting and advising organizations and individuals to develop safe production and supply chains incorporating traceability systems. At the same time, the province continues to attract and promote the development of preservation and deep-processing industries, refined processing, and high-tech processing in line with planning orientations, in combination with marketing and distribution measures to expand markets and increase product value.
