Yen Bai: Over 80% of industrial zones reached occupancy

YBO - Currently, the province of Yen Bai is home to 15 industrial clusters with a total area of 710.78 hectares. Among these, 481.45 hectares are designated for industrial use, with a current occupancy rate of 43.72%. As of December 2024, 63 investment projects have been implemented, covering a total area of 162 hectares and generating a combined investment capital of VND 4,701.86 billion.

By the end of 2025, the province is expected to establish three additional industrial clusters, which will be assigned to infrastructure developers: Bao Hung 2, An Thinh, and Y Can.

Yen Bai has also appointed five infrastructure developers for the Phu Thinh 1, Phu Thinh 2, Phu Thinh 3, and Yen Hop (Phase 1) clusters, as well as the Y Can cluster, with a total investment capital of VND 2,088.416 billion. Furthermore, three more investors have committed to developing infrastructure in the Y Can, An Thinh, and Bao Hung 2 clusters. One investor has expressed interest and registered for a site survey for a potential logistics infrastructure project in Van Phu commune — the proposed Van Phu Inland Waterway Port and Logistics Center.

Since 2020, the province has attracted 44 medium- to large-scale projects equipped with advanced machinery and technology into its industrial zones and clusters, with a total investment of VND 10,133.6 billion. The industrial zones have now reached an occupancy rate exceeding 80%, while the industrial clusters have surpassed 40% occupancy.

After seven years of implementing Project No. 11 of the Provincial Party Committee on “Building and nurturing a source of young officials, female officials, and ethnic minority officials under the management of the Provincial Party Standing Committee through 2030, with orientation toward 2035,” Yen Bai province has to date rotated, transferred, or appointed a total of 164 officials. Among these, there were 81 young officials, 34 female officials, and 49 ethnic minority officials.

To meet the labor demands of enterprises, Yen Bai province has proactively implemented various measures to develop and improve the quality of its workforce. Particular attention has been given to vocational training linked with job creation and labor restructuring, contributing to social welfare and accelerating the province’s industrialization process. These efforts align with Resolution No. 29-NQ/TU dated February 24, 2021, issued by the 19th Provincial Party Executive Committee on sustainable, efficient, and environmentally friendly industrial development in Yen Bai during the 2021–2025 period.

In recent years, Yen Bai Province has consistently prioritized investment in education, especially in remote and ethnic minority areas. Through a range of policies and support mechanisms, the province has significantly improved school attendance rates and educational quality in highland and disadvantaged regions.
