Van Yen to Develop 16 Resettlement Areas for Households Affected by Land Acquisition for the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong High-Speed Railway Project

YBO - The proposed Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong high-speed railway will pass through seven communes of Van Yen District, including Xuan Ai, Yen Hop, An Thinh, Tan Hop, Dong An, Chau Que Ha, and Chau Que Thuong, covering a total distance of approximately 50 km.

Preliminary statistics show that around 324 hectares of land are expected to be acquired in Van Yen for site clearance. About 1,480 households will be affected, of which 633 households with residential land will require resettlement. Additionally, 785 graves will be relocated due to the project.

To implement land clearance, Van Yen District plans to establish 16 resettlement zones for households whose residential land is being acquired. Local authorities have been tasked with assessing the specific circumstances of each affected household to support future livelihood transitions. Provisional relocation plans will also be prepared for households in cases where resettlement housing is not yet available. The entire process of land acquisition, surveying, inventory, compensation, support, and resettlement will be carried out in accordance with legal procedures, ensuring transparency and compliance with the law.

Since the beginning of 2025, the implementation of a range of coordinated measures has enabled Yen Bai Province to achieve positive outcomes in the disbursement of public investment capital. Notably, the province ranks among the 35 provinces and cities with disbursement rates higher than the national average.

Since 2021, Yen Bai Province has transitioned 39,289 workers from agriculture to non-agricultural sectors.

Over the five-year period from 2021 to 2025, Yen Bai Province has created jobs for 110,339 workers. Of these: 56,393 were employed through socio-economic development programs, 11,907 accessed loans from the National Employment Fund, 2,886 worked abroad under labor export programs, and 39,153 were supplied to out-of-province employers.
