Yen Bai pays attention to preserving, promoting value of cultural heritage

YBO - Yen Bai province is currently home to 132 recognised historical and cultural relic sites, including one special national, 12 national and 119 provincial sites.

Khen (panpipe) performance of the Mong people in Yen Bai province recently included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List in the form of folk performing arts.

A lot of intangible cultural heritage is being studied, identified and protected, and their values promoted. The province boasts Xoe Thai dance inscribed by UNESCO in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, along with six intangible cultural heritage included in the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. These have contributed to inspiring pride and raising awareness of heritage conservation among local people.

In addition, folk art forms are preserved and reacted, and mass cultural movements at the grassroots receive due attention. At present, the province has more than 1,500 mass art clubs with tens of thousands of amateur artists.

In addition, Yen Bai’s 18 meritorious artisans honoured by the State President and 21 artisans in the field of intangible cultural heritage have been increasingly asserting their important role in preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage.

A forest offering ceremony takes place under the canopy of ancient trees.

Forest offering ceremonies, also known as forest festivals, were simultaneously held across sacred forests in Na Hau commune, Van Yen district on March 9 morning or the 29th day of the first month in the lunar calendar.
