Yen Bai sees over 7.6% decline in poverty rate among ethnic minority communities

YBO - With the effective implementation of the national target programme on boosting socio-economic development in mountainous and ethnic minority-inhabited areas, Yen Bai has recorded an average annual reduction of over 7.6% in poverty rate among the local ethnic minority communities.

The rate of poor households in mountainous and ethnic minority-inhabited areas of Yen Bai has reduced 7.66% each year. The decline in Mu Cang Chai district is over 8%, while that in Tram Tau district is nearly 7%.

With the proper investment in items of the national target programme on boosting socio-economic development in mountainous and ethnic minority-inhabited areas, Yen Bai has successfully brought 13 communes out of extremely difficult conditions, fulfilling over 46% of the assigned target.

At the same time, 18 out of the 27 villages with extreme difficult situation have also been moved out of the list, completing nearly 67% of the set target.

In 2023, Yen Bai is striving to reduce the rate of poor households in mountainous and ethnic minority-inhabited areas by over 5%, while supporting 828 households from ethnic minority groups in building and repairing houses. The locality also aims to have four extremely difficult communes completing the new-style rural area building programme.
