Role models in following late President’s teachings in Yen Bai city

YBO - To expand exemplars in the 2021 - 2023 period, the Party Organisation of Yen Bai city has registered 242 role models, including 122 collectives and 120 individuals, in studying and following late President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings.

For 10 years of serving as chairman of the war veterans’ association of Gioi Phien commune, Ha Dinh Chinh has always taken the lead in all activities and exerted all-out efforts for the sake of common interests. As the leader of the war veterans’ association, he has worked to grasp the situation of each member so as to provide appropriate assistance.

He has encouraged others to develop 21 outstanding livelihood models that have won recognition at different levels, coordinated efforts to help one member escape from poverty, and called on member veterans to join hands in building a new road at a cost of 25 million VND (1,000 USD). Besides, he persuaded 251 families of association members to comply with site clearance orders to serve the implementation of local programmes and projects.

The war veterans’ association of Gioi Phien commune has also been entrusted to lend out 4.1 billion VND to 121 members, frequently shared experience, and assisted members and local residents to develop livelihoods, thereby helping bring the rate of poor members down to the lowest-ever level.

Chinh said he realised that he should follow President Ho Chi Minh’s style of staying close to the people in order to grasp member veterans’ thought and aspirations, and report their opinions to authorities to resolve issues in a timely manner.

Meanwhile, 72-year-old Pham Dinh Quy, a 41-year Party member in Residential Area 10 of Minh Tan ward, is committed to himself that he has to constantly make utmost efforts for the sake of common interests and spread love to people with disadvantages.

With this resolve, he has actively engaged in activities and set a bright example in making self-improvement in terms of political thought, morality, lifestyle, dedication, and creativity, while upholding a high sense of responsibility towards assigned tasks. Thanks to that, he has always been trusted by local officials, Party members, and residents.

Quy has played an active part in social security activities in Minh Tan ward. In 2021, thanks to donations from various sources, he presented Lunar New Year (Tet) gifts worth a total of 20 million VND to poor and near-poor families.

Since the beginning of 2022, he has also donated 2.5 million VND to present gift packages to five poor families, and 3 million VND to help his residential zone install security cameras. Earlier, he had donated nearly 80 million VND to the upgrade and repair of the residential area's cultural centre.

In 2021, the municipal Party Committee and grassroots authorities commended and rewarded more than 100 outstanding collectives and individuals.

This year, the city has selected one collective and one individual for attending an exhibition themed "Simple but noble examples” held by central agencies. The information and education board of the Yen Bai provincial Party Committee also proposed one individual be granted a merit certificate by the chairperson of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education.
