Workshop on digital transformation in Yen Bai’s education-training sector

YBO - A conference on digital transformation in the education sector of Yen Bai province was held via videoconference on March 15.

The event was jointly held by the provincial Department of Education and Training, the Department of Information and Communication, Microsoft Vietnam, Viettel Group, and a unit of VNPT.

Yen Bai is now home to 200 schools using e-textbooks, 90 building multiple choice questionnaire banks with nearly 250,000 queries.

Each year, more than 147,000 e-lectures are compiled; and 87 schools contribute to the e-learning database, 12 others build e-library, 38 pilot the use of virtual lab software, 71 apply online assessment system, and 37 use schedule arrangement software.

When schools had to close due to the complex developments of COVID-19 outbreaks, nearly 40 percent of secondary school students and 97.08 percent of high school ones attended online classes, the quality of which had been increased as schools closely followed guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Training in the field.

To bolster digital transformation in the coming time, the education-training sector is determined to change methods of organising classes, turning online teaching and learning as a daily activity for educators and learners. 

Measures include raising teachers and students’ awareness; complying with current regulations in digital transformation; building databases; and mobilising resources for infrastructure necessary for management and teaching at all educational establishments of the province.

Coordination in the implementation of the province’s smart urban area project; digital human resources development; changes in management at the provincial departments and schools; digital transformation pilot programmes at Quang Trung secondary school and Nguyen Tat Thanh specialised high school in Yen Bai city, are also on the agenda.
