Yen Bai Among Four Provinces Effectively Disbursing Support for Housing for Poor Households

YBO - Since 2023, Yen Bai province has supported the construction of new and repaired 2,950 out of 3,022 houses, achieving 98% of the set plan. Specifically, nearly 1,600 houses were built in 2023, and in 2024, the goal is to construct over 1,400 houses, completing the objectives of the housing support project for the poor one year ahead of schedule.

Poor households in Cao Pha commune, Mu Cang Chai district, are regularly supported, encouraged, and assisted by local authorities during the housing construction process.

After the Prime Minister issued the housing support policy for poor and near-poor households from national target programs for the 2021-2025 period, Yen Bai province launched a project to support housing for poor and near-poor households for the 2023-2025 period, based on integrating various support resources from national target programs, provincial budget sources, and socialized funding.

Since 2023, the province has supported the construction of new and repaired 2,950 out of 3,022 houses, achieving 98% of the planned goal. Specifically, nearly 1,600 houses were built in 2023, and in 2024, the goal is to construct over 1,400 houses, completing the project objectives one year ahead of schedule.

In addition to supporting 3,022 houses under the project, since the beginning of 2021, Yen Bai province has also supported the construction of new and repaired over 3,400 houses affected by natural disasters.

Notably, following the impact of Storm No. 3 Yagi, Yen Bai province decided to assist 1,422 households whose houses were collapsed, or required urgent relocation, as well as those with severe damage. The support amount is 60 million VND for each collapsed house and for houses that need to be relocated and rebuilt, and 30 million VND for each severely damaged house.

Implementation of Project 5 - Housing Support for Poor and Near-Poverty Households in Poor Districts under the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the 2021–2025 Period. As of the end of September 2024, localities across the country have been supporting the construction of houses for approximately 17,072 households, achieving 53% of the 2024 plan.

Cumulatively, since the beginning of the program, provinces have supported housing for 43,754 households, reaching 34.51% of the plan for the entire 2021–2025 period. Yen Bai, along with Ninh Thuan, Ha Giang, and Quang Ngai, has been assessed as having good disbursement progress in recent times.

Thanks to effective forest protection and development, particularly large timber plantations meeting FSC standards, Na Hau Nature Reserve in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai now meets the criteria for exporting carbon credits, promising significant future revenue for the state.
