Workshop looks into planning of Yen Bai for 2021 - 2030

YBO - The Ministry of Planning and Investment has coordinated with Yen Bai province to hold a consultation workshop on a draft planning for the province in the 2021 - 2030 period, with a vision to 2050.

The planning is one of the important tools for all-level Party committees and administrations in the province to mobilise resources and capitalise on advantages to step up economic restructuring, socio-economic development, environmental protection, defence - security safeguarding, and infrastructure development. It also provides a basis for localities to make annual, five-, and 10-year development plans.

The planning’s overall goal is for Yen Bai to obtain moderately good development compared to other localities in the northern midland and mountainous region by 2025, become one of the leading provinces in this region by 2030, and establish itself as a locality with moderately good socio-economic development in Vietnam achieving green, harmonious and identity-imbued development with happiness by 2050.

At the workshop, experts held that the planning should have more detailed assessment of Yen Bai’s role and standing in the region and the country, including its position in and contributions to the regional and national development spaces, particularly in infrastructure connectivity and sectors’ development.

It should analyse the influence of the Yen Bai section of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong corridor, the expansion of the province’s development space in connection with the Hanoi - Lao Cai Expressway, benefits generated by this expressway for Yen Bai, and advantages for the development of agriculture and tourism, and the preservation of traditional cultural values.

Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Do Duc Duy affirmed Yen Bai’s determination to pursue green, harmonious and identity-imbued development with happiness and ensure this goal is not contradictory with growth targets.

He said the province has made annual plans to improve the happiness index, encourage locals to move forwards and bring into play cultural values and identity, and promote hospitality, humanity, solidarity, creativity, and integration among the local population.

Yen Bai aims to develop an economy based on processing, manufacturing, tourism, services, and agriculture - forestry - fisheries; create a friendly business climate, an attractive living environment, and a diverse ecosystem; and promote organic agriculture and ecotourism. It will also adapt its growth model to the local development space.
