Nghia Lo pushes forward digitalisation for tourism development

YBO - Nghia Lo has installed QR-CODE to introduce destinations and tourism information within the town, as well as a QR payment system at 92 accommodation facilities and 10 restaurants and eateries. The local information and communication infrastructure is developing, playing a significant role in promoting tourism activities in the area.

The town has so far completely eliminated 3G and 4G dead zones, and been selected to pilot the deployment of three 5G transmission stations.

Up to 95% of the households in the town have at least one smart phone while 82% of the households use broadband internet services. Up to 75% of the population have used mobile services through smart phones, 50% of the mobile and smart device users have access to and use e-government and smart city services. Additionally, 100% of the smart phone users can provide feedback, suggestions, or access and submit documents online through the public service portal.

With the active support from banks, telecom service providers, businesses and local residents, Nghia Lo town has installed QR-CODE to introduce destinations and tourism information. These QR codes are placed in various locations, including 92 accommodation facilities, and 10 restaurants and eateries.

Many lodging and homestay facilities, and tourism service providers have proactively used social media platforms to attract tourists. Some examples include Homestay Ban Muong, Muong Lo Retreat, and Koi Fish Café, among others.

In line with the provincial Party Committee’s Resolution 51 on digital transformation across all three pillars of digital administration, digital economy, and digital society, Nghia Lo town continues to pursue the goals of the project to build itself into a cultural and tourist town by 2025, with a determination to achieve all the 33 goals of the project.

The focus is on developing infrastructure, attracting investors to tourism sector, developing a professional workforce for the tourism industry, innovating existing tourism products, exploring new advantageous tourism products, and creating highlights to attract tourists. Nghia Lo town has selected its digital transformation theme for 2023 as "Building a digital database to serve tourism development”.

To achieve this goal, the town built a digital transformation plan for the tourism sector with the goals that all unique tourist and cultural sites in Nghia Lo have their own databases and use digital platforms for management, marketing and supply-demand connectivity, and ensuring that all visitors coming to or passing through Nghia Lo have access to and receive information about Nghia Lo's tourism through digital platforms.

The town also focuses on developing an online marketing system, including search engine optimisation campaigns targeting keywords such as "Nghia Lo tourism" through channels such as Facebook, TikTok, Zalo, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, both domestic and foreign travel websites. Additionally, it will continue stepping up various electronic payment methods for convenience services provided for local residents and tourists, and digitalising information about the six dance moves of Thai Xoe Art to serve tourists and researchers. Furthermore, there will be an enhanced effort to communicate various forms of Thai Xoe Art on online platforms.
