Yen Bai market has over 320 business stalls. In recent years, the provincial social insurance office and premium collection units have coordinated with the market management board to promote disseminations to encourage small traders to participate in voluntary social insurance through broadcasting on loudspeakers, handing out leaflets and consulting directly at the kiosks. To date, most of them have participated in voluntary social insurance.
Hoang Thi Hoan, a small trader at Yen Bai market, has joined voluntary social insurance since 2019 with the lowest rate of 300,000 VND (12.75 USD) a month. Hoan said: "As I'm still young, I can trade, and save money to buy voluntary social insurance, so that when I get old, I will have additional money."
Over the past years, dissemination activities in the province have targeted self-employed workers, and small businesspeople with stable income.
Nguyen Quang Trung, Deputy Director of the provincial social insurance office, said that the office has focused disseminations on the rights and benefits of voluntary social insurance participants so as to change public awareness, actions and habits, so that they will actively participate in voluntary social insurance to have their life guaranteed and stabilised when they get old.
In May, the office held an event in response to the "Month of mobilising the implementation of all-people social insurance”, during which nearly 160 people were persuaded to participate in voluntary social insurance.
In addition, the office also continues to conduct training on regimes, policies and professions on mobilising people to participate in voluntary social insurance for employees of premium collection organisations.
The province has two premium collection organisations with 433 points and 774 staff members and collaborators. By the end of May, as many as 1,441 people had been mobilised to join voluntary social insurance, bringing the total number of participants to nearly 24,270.
