Digital transformation promotes tourism development in Nghia Lo

YBO - Nghia Lo town always defines tourism as a spearhead economic sector towards sustainable tourism development associated with the cultural preservation of ethnic minorities. In particular, comprehensive digital transformation in the field of tourism is one of the key tasks that are being deployed.

Currently, the town has built its own brands for local tourism products namely community tourism with characteristics of Thai ethnic culture; tourist resort; culinary and experience tourism. A number of tourism establishments in the locality have made a name for themselves such as Chuon Chuon Hotel (Dragon Fly), Mien Tay Hotel, Tong Pong and Cuong Chinh Homestays.

At present, the entire Nghia Lo town has been covered by 3G and 4G mobile networks and was chosen to pilot the deployment of three transceiver stations of fifth generation 5G in the locality.

By the end of last year, 17,480 households, or 95% of the total number of households in the town, had at least a smartphone device; 15,071 households, or 82%, use broadband Internet services of two network providers - VNPT and Viettel; and all smartphone users can submit dossiers online on the national public service portal.

With the active support of banks, telecommunications service providers, businesses, households and people in the locality, the town has set up QR-Code to introduce destinations and tourist information as well as QR code payment at 92 accommodation establishments and 10 restaurants in the town.

Many accommodation establishments, homestays, tourism service businesses have also actively used social networking platforms to attract tourists such as Ban Muong Homestay, Muong Lo Retreat and Koi fish coffee shop.

Nghia Lo town has encouraged local residents to promote local tourism on social media platforms with the keyword "Nghia Lo tourism" via channels such as Facebook, TikTok, Zalo, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, as well as domestic and foreign travel sites.

In the coming time, it will complete the implementation of non-cash payment methods at all accommodation establishments, supermarkets, restaurants, attractions and markets in the area; digitise information about six ancient Xoe dances of Thai ethnic people to serve tourists and researchers; and post information on international hotel booking sites such as Booking.com and Agoda.com.
