This was the second time that Luc Yen had organised the market on the Lunar New Year, providing a chance for gemstone businesses, and gem product manufacturing and trading facilities in the locality to meet and promote their products.

At the market, 40 booths were arranged by more than 200 members of the Luc Yen Gemstone Association, artisans and owners of gem processing firms in Luc Yen district as well as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city.

The spring market contained activities to introduce and exchange precious and semi-precious stones, along with a gem-painting contest, attracting a large number of locals as well as domestic and foreign tourists.

Luc Yen gemstone spring market is an annual activity of the locality and local gem product processing and trading establishments in the area, offering gem traders and lovers of gem paintings an opportunity to meet, exchange and get deeper insight about the beauty of the local craft village.

Stones valued from a few hundreds thousands to hundreds of millions of VND are displayed at the market.

Gem market is the only of its kind in Vietnam, during which only one item sold is gems that carry special and unique cultural features that are somewhat extraordinary, making people unable to take their eyes off.

The gem market in Luc Yen was formed in the early 1990s. After 30 years of development, the rustic features of the market have kept unchanged. It is considered a typical characteristic that leaves a strong imprint about the land and people of Luc Yen.

Currently, the Luc Yen gem market has been developed into a spacious area located in the centre of Yen The township, making it convenient for precious stone trade activities by locals and tourists in Luc Yen.
