497 high school students win prizes at provincial contests

YBO - A total of 1,061 candidates from high schools in the province participated in an exam held from September 27-30 to select excellent students in the academic year 2023-2024.

The students sat for exams in Literature, History, Geography, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, Chinese and Informatics.

Out of the candidates, 497 won prizes including 10 first prizes, 60 second prizes, 138 third prizes and 289 consolation prizes. Nguyen Tat Thanh High School for the Gifted bagged the biggest number of prizes with 147 prizes, followed by Chu Van An High School in Van Yen district with 59.

The province also held an exam to select candidates for the national competition. Among 178 candidates, 68 are eligible to attend the national competition.

Recently, Yen Bai province has faced concerning reproductive health statistics, with the pregnancy rate among women aged 15-19 reaching 15.5% in Mu Cang Chai district and 9.6% in Van Chan district. Home births remain prevalent, with 63.1% occurring in Mu Cang Chai and 13.5% in Van Chan.
